Johnston Pharmacy was first established in 2005 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna by husband and wife tandem of Ricky and Christine, both former professional medical representatives.  When the couple decided to come back home after an 8-year residency in Australia and travels in many different places, they tried their hands on various businesses. Eventually, they ventured into the pharmaceutical business and set up one of the fastest growing pharmacy chain in the country, Johnston Pharmacy.

Having worked for various multinational pharmaceutical companies, the couple saw the need of the middle and lower classes for affordable and effective medicine. Equipped with their extensive knowledge and experience in marketing and promoting pharmaceutical products, combined with a very strong background on pharmaco-dynamics, they established Johnston Pharmacy. Their residence in Sta. Rosa, Laguna was their first branch.  In less than two years time the business added three more branches in Binan, Pacita and Cabuyao and more recently Macabling, Balibago and another one in Sta. Rosa proper all of which are in lower Laguna.

Johnston Pharmacy is a community-based drugstore offering generics, parallel and branded BFAD and DOH approved medicines. The couple’s main mission in setting it up is to educate, inform and provide the masses access to affordable medicines. The couple understands that to effect healing a patient should first understand their illness. This understanding is just one of the bases of their success, with this principle they formed their comprehensive training program designed for their staff with or without the pharmacy background.

Johnston Pharmacy now has a very strong customer base in Laguna and the Metropolitan Manila also in different provinces, helping patients cope with their maintenance medication by offering good advice and information, quality and affordable branded and generic drugs to the public. Johnston Pharmacy also offers health and personal care products cosmetics, toiletries, and medical supplies.

Johnston Pharmacy pioneered the community-based drugstore franchising, with the desire to share their success.  Seven (7) drugstores in three (3) years is a very strong indication of the company’s strong track record in the business.  After launching the franchise on July of 2007 the company has not slowed down since.  In 2008 the couple launched Project Generix (Plus) Drugstore, destined to be another success.

Recently, Johnston Pharmacy was awarded The People’s Choice Seal of Excellence Awards by the National Consumer Affairs Foundation and People’s Choice Awards Committee as the Most Outstanding Generics Drugstore Franchising Company for 2008-2009.  The couple realized that their hard work didn’t go unnoticed.
