Master franchisees assume responsibility for developing and sub-franchising a network of stores in an entire country or specific area, usually referred to as the ‘licensed territory’. A regional franchisee has a region that he will develop an agreed upon number of stores in but he owns and operates all the stores himself, and is not licensed to sub-franchise, like the master franchisee. Location-only franchises are self explanatory. Each franchisee can own more than one location-only franchise.
